The Lower School
The Lower School faculty is dedicated to providing all children with a balanced, content-rich, comprehensive and successful school experience. The Lower School promotes a warm and trusting atmosphere that fosters respect, responsibility, integrity and empathy. Each student follows a sequential curriculum in seven core areas: Language arts, mathematics and science, social studies, Spanish, Fine Arts, physical education and technology. Opportunities for school and community service are offered throughout the year. Children build their organizational and study skills and develop research skills necessary to prepare written and oral reports. There is a balance of partner, small group and whole group experiences. Qualified students are provided auxiliary support through the Tutorial Program.
"This is one of the best schools that you could ever think about having your child attend. The teachers are amazing and there is such a sense of community throughout the entire school. I am so happy that my child had the opportunity to attend KCDS from preschool thru 8th grade." Aly Owens, 2013
